Use of personal details (purpose of register)
Personal details are collected to make communication and use of service possible. Details can be used for communication between service providers and users and also for direct communication between users. Some personal details are visible on the profile page of the user, but those details are voluntary (except name).
The handling of personal details is not outsourced, but the register data is stored on a server that is rented from a third party company.
Information content of the register
The following information may be stored in the register:
- Personal details: Name, email address, phone number, street address
- Account details: username, password (stored in encrypted format)
- The description text that the user may write about him/herself
- The offers and requests the user has posted to the service
- The given and received feedback and badges
- Statistical data about service usage, e.g. number times the user has logged in
Regular sources of information
Personal details are given by the user on registration to the service or when using it later.
Regular handovers of the information
Information considering users of a single College Collections community may be handed over to the client who has founded that community or to the community administrators appointed by that client.
Transfers of the information outside the EU and the European Economic Area
Information may be stored to a server that may be located inside or outside of the EU and the European Economic Area
Register protection principles
1. INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
College Collections does not collect any unique information about you (such as your name, email address, etc.) except when you specifically and knowingly provide such information. College Collections collects personal information and information about your transactions when you use College Collections services, such as buying and selling items. When you register, College Collections asks for your email address. Additional information is requested when you buy and sell items, such as your name, address, and phone number. Once you register with College Collections and sign in, you are no longer anonymous to College Collections. The College Collections server logs automatically receive and record information from your browser, including your IP address, College Collections cookie information, and the page requested, and other standard information.
2. INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
Your email address and other personal information is kept private. College Collections does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or companies. College Collections may divulge aggregate information about users but will not share personally identifiable information with any third party without your express consent. For example, College Collections may disclose how frequently the average College Collections user visits College Collections, or which sort of photography or art is most popular. College Collections will only release specific personal information about you if required to do so in order to comply with a valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order, or if College Collections believes it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of the Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.
3. CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURITY
College Collections limits access to personal information about you to employees who College Collections believes reasonably need to come into contact with that information in order to do their jobs. College Collections has physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect personal information about you. Your College Collections account information is secure, protected by password or via an email login link.
College Collections reserves the right to send you certain important communications relating to College Collections, such as service announcements and administrative messages, which are considered critical to College Collections membership, without offering you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving them.
